About the Opportunity

Aecon, a leading infrastructure development company, seeks a highly skilled Sustainability Coordinator to join its Civil East group.

As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the environmental management and operationalization of sustainability on Aecon\'s projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain the Environmental Management System and ensure compliance with applicable best practices, regulations, Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), Sustainability Management Plans (SMPs), and project-specific plans.
  2. Provide timely reports and participate in project-related meetings as required.
  3. Collect, store, and analyze data to support project sustainability goals.
  4. Evaluate compliance and collaborate with the project team to identify sustainability-related risks.
  5. Work closely with project teams and clients to ensure projects are completed in accordance with established scopes of work.
  6. Implement the Envision Sustainability Infrastructure Framework on projects, as required.
  7. Support the implementation of other frameworks, such as LEED, WELL, and Zero Carbon Building Standard certifications, as needed.
  8. Respond to client and stakeholder inquiries regarding Aecon\'s Sustainability Strategy and performance.
  9. Stay up-to-date with current and emerging legislative requirements and sources of government incentive funding.
  10. Collaborate with the project team to ensure delivery of sustainability requirements, which may include certification under various sustainability rating systems.

Requirements:

  1. University Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field.
  2. ENV-SP (Envision Sustainability Professional) professional designation, a strong asset.
  3. At least 3 years of experience in the environmental, construction, or sustainability sector, an asset.
  4. A valid driver\'s license is required.
  5. Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset.
  6. Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, coordinating resources, and problem-solving abilities.
  7. Excellent analytical skills and the ability to organize and express ideas clearly.
  8. Strong teamwork skills and ability to develop and foster strong working relationships.
  9. Comfortable with public speaking and presentations.
  10. Ability to take initiative, ownership, and work independently with excellent multitasking abilities.
  11. Occasional travel to other cities for site visitations throughout Canada based on project portfolio.
