About the Role

Ausenco is a leading consulting and project delivery company that specializes in delivering innovative solutions for complex projects. We are currently seeking a highly skilled Lead Structural Engineer to join our Industrial and Infrastructure Business line in the Burnaby office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement structural engineering designs from conceptual design through to detail design, tender, and construction in accordance with Canadian Codes and Standards.
  • Perform analysis and design of steel, concrete, masonry, and timber structures and concrete foundations for new infrastructure projects and for seismic upgrade projects.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and prepare reports relating to existing and new structures.
  • Evaluate and analyze existing structures for modifications and additions, and propose reinforcement solutions.
  • Prepare specifications, design criteria, and material take-off for projects.
  • Ensure that objectives of cost, quality, and time are met.
  • Collaborate with drafting staff to produce detailed drawing packages.
  • Supervise the work of other engineers on the project team.
  • Liaise with client representatives and general contractors directly.
  • Support Business Development efforts.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural engineering from a recognized University. (Master's degree would be considered an asset)
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in BC. Registration within another Province or internationally (PE) would be considered an asset
  • Designated Structural Engineer (Struct.Eng.) in BC
  • 12+ years' experience in a structural design environment, including 10 years' experience in seismic upgrade projects
  • Thorough understanding of the design of structural steel, concrete, masonry, and timber
  • Proficiency in application of Canadian Codes and Standards
  • Proficiency in structural engineering analysis and design software such as SFRAME, ETABS or SAP2000.
  • Expertise in non-linear time history analysis would be considered an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in both written and verbal English
  • Experienced in dealing with clients and contractors directly.
