Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive structural engineering designs from initial concepts to detailed specifications, ensuring compliance with Canadian Codes and Standards.
  • Conduct analysis and design for various structural materials including steel, concrete, masonry, and timber, as well as foundations for new infrastructure and seismic upgrades.
  • Perform site assessments, inspections, and generate reports for both existing and new structures.
  • Evaluate existing structures for potential modifications and enhancements, proposing effective reinforcement strategies.
  • Draft specifications, design criteria, and material take-offs for diverse projects.
  • Ensure project objectives related to cost, quality, and timelines are consistently met.
  • Collaborate with drafting personnel to produce precise drawing packages.
  • Oversee the contributions of other engineers within the project team.
  • Engage directly with clients and general contractors to foster effective communication.
  • Assist in Business Development initiatives to promote growth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering from an accredited institution; a Master's degree is advantageous.
  • Professional Engineer registration in British Columbia; registration in other provinces or internationally is a plus.
  • Designated Structural Engineer (Struct.Eng.) in BC.
  • A minimum of 12 years of experience in structural design, with at least 10 years focused on seismic upgrade projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of structural design principles for steel, concrete, masonry, and timber.
  • Proficient in applying Canadian Codes and Standards.
  • Experience with structural engineering analysis and design software such as SFRAME, ETABS, or SAP2000.
  • Expertise in non-linear time history analysis is a valuable asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in both written and spoken English.
  • Proven experience in client and contractor interactions.
