Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Recreational Therapist to join our team at BC Mental Health & Substance Use Services. As a Recreational Therapist, you will work with patients who have complex mental health and substance use challenges to develop and implement therapeutic recreation programs that promote physical and emotional well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patient's current level of recreation functioning and determine the requirements for programming.
- Plan, develop, and arrange individual and group therapeutic recreation programs and services.
- Implement safe and secure recreation therapy services for patients and staff.
- Maintain and report on comprehensive patient assessment and progress records related to recreation therapy.
- Participate in community meetings and collaborate with others on recreation therapy treatment.
Requirements
- Diploma in Recreation Therapy from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Two (2) years recent related experience working in a psychiatric setting with individuals who have complex mental health and addictions issues.
- Eligible for membership in the British Columbia Therapeutic Recreation Association.
- Valid BC Drivers License.
