Job Summary:

The Payroll & Benefits Specialist will be responsible for administering payroll and benefits to a large number of multi-union and non-union employee groups, along with their dependents and beneficiaries. This includes performing a variety of duties in accordance with legislation, collective agreements, and employment contracts, as well as established practice and procedures in both payroll and general accounting.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer payroll and benefits to a large number of employee groups
  • Perform duties in accordance with legislation, collective agreements, and employment contracts
  • Ensure accuracy and attention to detail in all payroll and benefits administration
  • Provide excellent customer service to employees and management
  • Work effectively under pressure with assigned deadlines
  • Manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines

Requirements:

  • High school graduation or equivalent
  • Two years post-secondary education in the Certified Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or Level 1 & 2 from the National Payroll Institute
  • At least five years of recent experience as a full-time payroll or benefits professional
  • At least 5 years experience working with a HRMS/HRIS
  • Minimum keyboarding speed of 60 cwpm and 200 cspm
  • Above average knowledge, experience, and ability with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Knowledge of privacy legislation and regulations
