At Valard, a leading utility contractor in Canada and part of the Quanta Group, we're committed to excellence in transmission, distribution, substations, foundations, telecommunications, and renewable energy projects.

We're seeking an experienced Distribution Supervisor with live line expertise for our Northern Ontario operations, covering Thunder Bay, Sudbury, and surrounding areas. The ideal candidate will oversee daily activities and lead on-site crews to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the Project Manager and subcontractors as the primary liaison between Valard and the client's Site Representative.
  • Lead on-site construction activities while ensuring adherence to project drawings, specifications, schedules, budget, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Promote Valard's safety policies and procedures through leadership by example and support implementation efforts.
  • Document and report all injuries, completing Notice of Injury/Accident Reports, and communicate with the onsite Safety Advisor.
  • Work with the Project Manager to develop and maintain project timelines through efficient use of resources: manpower, materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Manage subcontractors on site, developing agreements as required, tracking production to meet project schedules and contract budgets.
  • Contribute to project execution plans, kick-off meetings, contract reviews, and scope reviews, ensuring a well-rounded project program.
  • Mentor and train job site crews in adopting a culture of safety, quality, and production.
  • Empower crews to be knowledgeable of company policies and procedures, upholding them at all times.
  • Utilize Valard's change management system effectively, working closely with clients to review and obtain closure on RFIs and Cos.
  • Ensure timely submission of crew timesheets.
  • Support internal and external audit and inspection activities.
  • Review and schedule equipment as needed.
  • Carry out employee performance reviews and disciplinary actions in conjunction with Manitoba's HR Representative when necessary.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Journeyman Powerline Technician certification with live line experience.
  • A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to manage large work groups consisting of up to 50-75 people at any given time.
  • Knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, project scheduling, cost controls, and quality standards.
  • This field-based position requires flexibility in accommodating multiple shift requirements based on site-specific project schedules.

Estimated Annual Salary: $95,000 - $125,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
