Job Title: Meat Cutter - StockYard Meat Products
Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Meat Cutter to join our team at StockYard Meat Products. As a Meat Cutter, you will be responsible for cutting and preparing meats for sale in our butcher shop and wholesale department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cut and trim meats to prepare for processing or cutting
- Cut carcasses, sides, and quarters
- Cut, trim, and prepare standard cuts of meat
- Wrap and package prepared meats
- Remove bones from meat
- Weigh meats for sale
- Cut poultry into parts
- Price meat products
- Clean and prepare fish and shellfish
- Sell meats to customers
- Cut fish into steaks and fillets
- Supervise other butchers, meat cutters, and fishmongers
- Grind meats
- Train meat cutters
- Make special sausages
- Slice cooked meats
- Prepare special displays of meats, poultry, and fish products
- Shape, lace, and tie roasts, other meats, poultry, and seafood
- Prepare special orders
Work Environment: Our butcher shop and wholesale department are fast-paced environments that require attention to detail and physical stamina. You will be working in a cold/refrigerated environment and will be exposed to odours.
Requirements:
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
- 1 to less than 7 months of experience
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: This role requires a combination of sitting, standing, and walking. You will be standing for extended periods and will be required to handle heavy loads. You must have good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
Personal Suitability: We are looking for a reliable, organized, and efficient individual who is a team player. You must have accurate and client-focused skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
