Canam, a leading employer in the construction industry, is seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Welding Specialist to join our team.

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Heavy Duty Welding Specialist to work on various projects. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for performing high-quality welding tasks, ensuring timely completion of projects, and maintaining a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welding Tasks: Perform high-quality welding tasks, including lifting, assembling, and tacking joist pieces at the jig.
  • Read and Interpret Drawings: Read and interpret shop drawings as required to ensure accurate execution of welding tasks.
  • Jig Setup: Help set up the jig as required to facilitate efficient welding operations.
  • Maintaining Cleanliness: Keep work areas clean and adhere to 5S standards to maintain a safe and organized workspace.
  • Health and Safety: Comply with health and safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Additional Duties: Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisors or management.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Welding Experience: Must be able to produce clean, accurate welds and pass CWB welding tests.
  • Physical Abilities: Ability to regularly push/pull/lift up to 50 pounds, stand continuously, and hold a welding gun.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Welding experience or training in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate, read, and write in English is a must.
  • Document Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety and operating policies, procedures, and instructions.
  • Overtime and Training: Willingness to engage in training as required and work overtime, including weekends.
