We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Actuarial Co-Op Student to join our team at Liberty Mutual Canada. As an Actuarial Co-Op Student, you will assist senior actuary staff with various responsibilities and functions, while learning actuarial theories and procedures.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including data extraction, manipulation, and analysis. You will also have the chance to develop your skills in programming languages such as R and Python, and work with complex insurance data.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Extract and manipulate data from various sources and systems
  • Work with detailed insurance data, including premium and loss data, exposure data, and financial data
  • Calculate premium rate changes, exposure changes, loss development factors, and other quantities
  • Produce high-quality reports and exhibits for senior actuarial and business use
  • Assist with actuarial pricing and profitability studies for individual accounts and entire portfolios
  • Work with loss development triangles and quarterly actuarial loss reserving and year-end analysis
  • Develop financial models, financial plans, and scenario stress testing
Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled in a university degree program in Actuarial Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, or other relevant disciplines
  • Solid academic standing in Mathematics, Statistics, and analytical skills at the university undergraduate level
  • Strong interest in developing high-level programming and data analytic skills
  • Basic knowledge of insurance principles
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Very strong work ethic and willingness to continually learn
