Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Renal Nutrition Specialist to join our team at Fraser Health.

About the Role

This is a full-time permanent position, with an estimated salary of $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. As a Renal Nutrition Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing expert nutrition care to clients with renal disease, working closely with healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Screens and assesses client nutritional status through chart review, client interviews, and discussions with healthcare providers.
  • Determines diet requirements for clients with renal insufficiency or failure based on biochemical, metabolic, and anthropometric parameters.
  • Develops and implements multiparameter renal diets, setting nutritional priorities for high-risk clients with multiple medical problems.
  • Monitors and evaluates client adherence to and response to the multiparameter diet, making recommendations for nutrition interventions.
  • Participates in medical rounds to review issues related to renal clients' nutrition needs and relevant nutrition support protocols.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a recognized Bachelor of Science degree program in Nutrition and completion of an approved dietetic internship program.
  • Two years' recent related clinical experience in general medicine/surgery in a large acute care facility, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current registration with the College of Dietitians of BC and eligibility for membership with the Dietitians of Canada.
