Position Overview
The Systems Analyst III is accountable to the Manager, ICT Enterprise Applications Development. The individual will take full ownership of the comprehensive life-cycle development of Laurier's Enterprise Solutions, ensuring optimal effectiveness and usability of systems in a web-enabled context. The role necessitates close collaboration with personnel from various University departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct systems analysis and design in line with established standards. Responsibilities include project management, analyzing and documenting both existing and new processes, redesigning workflows for enhanced efficiency, database design and development, and performing fit-gap analysis.
- Engage with the implementation team and coordinate with both external and internal resources during new installations, upgrades, or migrations of Enterprise Solutions.
- Ensure thorough testing is performed prior to the deployment of new software enhancements into production. Confirm that accurate and comprehensive systems and end-user documentation is available for applications supported and maintained by the Enterprise Solutions department.
- Provide ongoing instructions and client training; deliver technical support for the effective use and design of application reporting systems.
- Deliver quality programming and development alongside systems support, maintenance, and troubleshooting in a client-server and web-enabled environment.
Qualifications
- University degree in Computer Science/Math, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of three years of experience with Relational Database Management Systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, MariaDB, Informix, MS SQL) in a Linux/Windows operating system environment.
- At least three years of experience with Tomcat and/or Apache web server.
- Proficiency in programming with object-oriented, GUI, and web development tools and technologies (e.g., Oracle Developer, Eclipse, C++, Java).
- Experience with any or all of the following is highly desirable: Ellucian Banner, Degree Works, Oracle Forms, Evisions, BDM/AppXtender, One Card, Desire2Learn, CRM, financial reporting, portal, accounting systems.
- Understanding of the OSI model and its application in triaging and isolating software and system issues.
- Experience with Hannon Hill's Cascade, Apache Velocity, XSLT is a plus.
- Familiarity with Sharepoint Online, Office365 is an asset.
- Experience in developing and implementing applications and user interfaces in a web-enabled environment utilizing backend databases, along with familiarity with PHP, SQL, JS/JQuery, XML, WordPress, and e-Commerce is beneficial.
- Experience working within an Agile/SCRUM methodology.
- Strong analytical problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Effective communication and interaction skills with users of varying technical expertise.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty and staff in a high-demand environment.
- Capacity to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality.

Compensation
Position Grade: G
Hiring salary range: $50.05 to $52.90 with an annual step progression on anniversary date up to $57.20.
Hours of Work: This is a full-time 2-year limited term position. Normal working hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Flexibility in hours may be required, including evening and/or weekend work due to events.
