Job SummaryThe Senior Human Resources Specialist will be responsible for administering staff consultation and grievance procedures, assigning projects to subordinates and staff, coordinating HR department activities, planning and controlling budget and expenditures, and advising managers and employees on human resources policies and programs.
Key Responsibilities- Administer staff consultation and grievance procedures
- Assign projects to subordinates and staff relating to employment, compensation, labour relations and employee relations
- Coordinate the activities of the HR department in order to ensure they meet the organization's goals
- Plan and control budget and expenditures
- Plan, develop, implement and evaluate human resources policies and programs
- Advise managers and employees on the interpretation of human resources policies, benefit programs and collective agreements
- Establish and implement policies and procedures
- Mediate labour disputes and grievances
- Oversee the classification and rating of occupations
- Plan, develop and implement recruitment strategies
- Research and prepare occupational classifications, job descriptions and salary scales
- Administer benefit employment equity and other human resources programs
- Manage contracts
- Co-ordinate employee performance and appraisal programs
- Manage training and development strategies
- Oversee the analysis of employee data and information
- Research employee benefits and health and safety practices and recommend changes
- Respond to employee questions and complaints
- Hire, train and supervise staff
- Negotiate collective agreements on behalf of employers or workers
- Organize staff consultation and grievance procedures
- Oversee payroll administration
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field
- 1-2 years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
- Knowledge of human resources software
