Director, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)

The Opportunity

The Director, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) plays a critical role in driving business growth and success at Manulife. Reporting to the AVP Head of Finance, this position is responsible for leading the development and implementation of the Bank's annual planning processes, providing financial expertise and oversight of strategic projects, and delivering periodic forecasts and plans.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with business organizations to develop financial strategies that drive growth and meet goals and objectives.
  2. Build and develop the annual financial plan, including scenario analysis and stress testing to inform short-term and long-term decision-making.
  3. Manage and drive forecasting reporting, analyzing financial results, and communicating key messages to the Senior Leadership Team.
  4. Partner with the Product Management team and Bank Treasury team to perform profitability analysis and provide insights and recommendations.

Strategic Initiatives

  1. Oversee financial modeling and analysis for strategic projects, evaluating potential impacts on the Bank's financial health and sustainability.
  2. Lead cross-functional teams to coordinate new projects and services, aligning with the company's overall objectives.
  3. Participate in and lead projects/task forces in support of major Bank and Manulife-wide initiatives.

Continuous Improvement

  1. Work closely with the Executive Leadership Team and leadership groups to drive growth and accelerate performance through reporting, insights, and recommendations.
  2. Build talent capability and engage employees through focused career discussions, ongoing feedback, and coaching.
  3. Make decisions regarding employment, compensation, performance appraisals, training, and development.
  4. Drive business outcomes through agile approaches and collaborative problem-solving.
  5. Contribute to a diverse and inclusive work environment, fostering a culture of humanity and empathy.

Requirements

  1. Accounting designation (CPA) with 8+ years of relevant experience in progressive accounting roles, preferably in banking.
  2. Strong knowledge of planning and forecasting principles and techniques.
  3. Ability to communicate complex financial concepts and analysis in a clear, concise manner.
  4. Leadership skills to inspire, engage, and provide clear direction to staff, while coaching and motivating to achieve objectives.
