Infection Prevention Specialist

The Alberta Health Services Infection Prevention and Control program is seeking a skilled Infection Control Practitioner to contribute to the development and implementation of system-wide improvements in infection prevention.
Description:As an Infection Prevention and Control Professional, you will be a patient safety expert who leads the planning, development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of system-wide improvements in infection prevention. You will serve as a role model to promote the goals of the IPC program within the larger context of the vision and mission of Alberta Health Services.
Key Responsibilities:- Facilitate change through interpretation and application of standards
- Provide best practice recommendations across the organization
- Lead the planning, development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of system-wide improvements in infection prevention
- Serve as a role model to promote the goals of the IPC program
Baccalaureate degree in Nursing, Microbiology, Epidemiology, or Public Health
Minimum of three years' experience in a clinical healthcare setting
Active or eligible registration with the applicable regulatory college
Additional Required Qualifications:Recent experience as an Infection Control Practitioner or completion of an IPAC endorsed novice IPC course
Preferred Qualifications:Certification in Infection Control from the Certification Board of Infection Control
Recent experience in nursing, microbiology and infectious diseases, epidemiology and biostatistics, laboratory technology, or public health
