Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist II to join our team at PHSA. As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible for providing occupational therapy assessments and treatment programs for clients/patients in the Medical and Surgical Inpatient Units.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct occupational therapy assessments and develop treatment plans for clients/patients in the Medical and Surgical Inpatient Units.
- Provide occupational therapy interventions and treatment programs to clients/patients in the Medical and Surgical Inpatient Units.
- Document client/patient information, including relevant clinical data, assessments, treatment plans, progress reports, and outcomes.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to clients/patients in the Medical and Surgical Inpatient Units.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to occupational therapy practice.
Requirements
- Baccalaureate in Occupational Therapy and licensure with the College of Health Care and Professionals of British Columbia.
- Two (2) years of recent related experience, including one (1) year in pediatrics or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
- 50 hours of post-graduate coursework/training related to additional procedures, techniques, and job functions for assigned area.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in groups, one-on-one, and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
- Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
- Demonstrated ability to function as a team member, motivator, and facilitator.
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
- Demonstrated ability to develop educational programs and materials.
- Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment.
- Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the job.
- Demonstrated ability to critically appraise research evidence.

- Commitment to develop knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments found in the foundational documents, including Truth & Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Calls for Justice (2019), the Declaration Act Action Plan, and Remembering Keegan: A First Nations Case Study.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
- Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism, and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments.
