Job Summary:

The Mill Maintenance / Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the proper maintenance of industrial equipment at our wood preserving plant. This role requires a strong understanding of equipment repair and preventative maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure equipment is in good working condition.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose machinery breakdowns to minimize downtime.
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems using hand and power tools.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Identify opportunities for safety, quality, and reliability improvements.
  • Conduct periodic inspections to complete preventative maintenance requirements and identify faulty or suspect parts.
  • Adhere to all work safety rules and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Red seal endorsement in Millwright is preferred.
  • Diagnostic computer skills are an asset.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a related field.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds or 23 kilograms.
  • A safety-conscious attitude with strict adherence to safe work practices and safe job procedures.
  • Accurately interpret work orders and technical manuals.
  • Have a valid Class 5 driver's license.
  • Able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Bending, lifting, and reaching during the course of a shift.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English clearly and fluently.
  • Must be able to wear hand, eye, and ear protection as required.
  • Must be flexible to accommodate operational and scheduling requirements.
  • Must be physically fit to meet the daily physical demands of working on equipment.

Work Location:

  • Prince Albert, SK, Mill is located 23 km east of Prince Albert on Hwy 55 and Whitestar Road.
  • Candidates will need their own transportation to travel to and from the work site.
  • No public transportation is available to the work area.
