Job Summary

The Mill Maintenance / Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the proper maintenance of industrial equipment at our wood preserving plant. This role involves troubleshooting and diagnosing machinery breakdowns, adjusting equipment, and repairing or replacing defective parts. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on industrial equipment
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose machinery breakdowns
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts
  • Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively
  • Identify opportunities for safety, quality, and reliability improvements
  • Conduct periodic inspections and complete preventative maintenance requirements
  • Adhere to all work safety rules and regulations

Requirements

  • Red seal endorsement is preferred
  • Millwright or equivalent experience
  • Diagnostic computer skills an asset
  • 3 – 5 years' experience in a similar role

Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced industrial environment, with regular exposure to heavy machinery and equipment. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in all weather conditions is essential. A valid Class 5 driver's license is also required.
