Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Enterprise Conduct, Risk Culture & Ethics team ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives.

Accountabilities

  • Champions a client-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Assists the Director, Risk Culture, Conduct Risk & Ethics and the Senior Managers in the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the Enterprise Conduct, Risk Culture & Ethics program as follows:
  • Assist in analyzing new and existing metrics including working with internal bank stakeholders. Includes validation for accuracy and creating reports to deliver insight to key stakeholders.
  • Coordinates the update of policies, procedures, and standards/guideline documents associated with the Enterprise Conduct, Risk Culture & Ethics program in line with Global Compliance & AML processes.
  • Manage escalation through central mailboxes, to triage requests for advice and counsel on, and interpreting our Scotiabank Code of Conduct (our "Code") and supporting policies, procedures, and guideline documents ensuring there is a consistent interpretation and implementation and directing inquiries from stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Supporting operationalization of policies, procedures, and standards/guideline documents by assisting to develop and deliver training materials and providing stakeholder socialization, and supporting with collating assessments (including NIRAs, RCSAs, and Risk Culture Self-Assessments) in relation to the Enterprise Conduct, Risk Culture & Ethics program.
  • Supports in the development and implementation of communication strategies/plans and training to support our Code and the Enterprise Conduct, Risk Culture & Ethics program to promote strong ethical standards. Includes maintaining content and resources on team sites (e.g., SharePoint) to ensure content is current and available Bank-wide, as well as internal team resources (e.g., team shared drive, group email distributions) to enable access by Enterprise Conduct, Risk Culture & Ethics team.
  • Assists in monitoring ongoing and emerging Conduct, Risk Culture & Ethics issues, and industry intelligence and other research studies.
  • Assists in preparing reports and documents for the Audit and Conduct Review Committee of the Board and Senior Management Committees, as requested.
  • Coordinates and tracking Code attestations including preparation of the annual Code declaration.
  • Undertakes other projects and initiatives, as requested by the Senior Manager and Director.
  • Understands how the Bank's risk appetite & risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture, and conducting all activities in compliance with Scotiabank's Values, our Code, governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures including AML/ATF/sanctions, Anti-Bribery & Anti-Corruption, and the Global Sales Principles.

Education/Experience

  • Post-Secondary education and/or professional designations.
  • 2+ years of banking/financial services experience with an emphasis on compliance, risk management, and/or advisory services.
  • Good judgment and attention to detail, researching matters and providing advice and counsel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to senior leadership audiences.
  • Experience in managing several ongoing assignments and competing priorities concurrently, working independently and as directed by assigned team leads.
  • Results-driven focus, with strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • General analytical skills with ability to collect, organize, and analyze data and reports; Ability to read and comprehend Power Bi reports for effective decision-making support.
  • Ability to operate in a high-performing, flexible, and small team environment. Working
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Knowledgeable about Scotiabank organizational structure, risk management, operational procedures, and business activities is an asset.
  • Fluency in Spanish is an asset.
