Overview of Distribution Technician Role at Fortis BC

We are seeking a skilled Distribution Technician to join our team at Fortis BC, where you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient installation, operation, and maintenance of gas system assets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Complete internal training based on previous skills and experience to safely install gas systems and operate and maintain Fortis BC distribution assets.
  • Participate in field coaching, skills building, and evaluation to develop your expertise.
  • Perform Distribution Technician tasks independently and as part of a crew.
  • Respond to emergencies while prioritizing public safety and collaborating with first responders and internal departments.
  • Foster positive relationships with customers and colleagues.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • A minimum of two years' relevant pipe fitting and/or underground utility field experience is required.
  • High school graduation and a Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving abstract are necessary.
  • A Provincial Gas B ticket is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply knowledge of Gas Installation Systems.
  • Effective customer relations and conflict resolution skills are essential.
  • The ability to remain calm and make effective decisions during emergency situations is crucial.
Additional Information:

This role requires standby/on-call duties based on operational needs. The successful candidate must adhere to residency requirements. Overtime and travel may be required.

Fortis BC offers a competitive salary of $40.87 per hour, along with benefits and opportunities for career development.
