About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Market Risk Analyst to join our team at The Toronto-Dominion Bank (Canada). As a key member of our Market Risk FRTB team, you will play a critical role in providing guidance and expertise to support the bank's risk appetite.

Responsibilities
  • Support the risk appetite of the bank by providing analysis and reporting, while escalating issues in a timely manner.
  • Effectively challenge and propose projects to improve efficiencies, resulting in more effective business support.
  • Understand system and model changes, their results, and impacts on market risk capital processes, taking ownership to deliver changes effectively and efficiently.
  • Establish review and assessment of output quality based on business standards, fostering an environment for effective issue escalation and mitigation of risk.
  • Identify innovative opportunities and drive these initiatives forward.
  • Evaluate and develop analytical and attribution capabilities, as well as business knowledge, to respond proactively to current and emerging risks.
  • Collaborate with business partners to share knowledge and leverage complementary skills, driving change and supporting objectives.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of analytical principles underlying FRTB, including issues related to financial instrument modeling and risk factors.
  • Facilitate leadership, direction, advice, and empowerment of the team, developing analysts through cross-training and indirect coaching.
Requirements
  • Risk management experience and/or relevant industry accreditation.
  • Able to develop and mentor individuals within the team, promoting cross-training and growth.
  • Strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with excellent judgment in complex environments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating collaboration across levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Proactive and motivated individual, with a passion for process improvements and initiative-taking.

  • High commitment to quality work.
  • Good understanding of risk management, governance compliance, and controls practices.
  • Experience with Market Risk measurement and reporting, including concepts such as VaR, Stress Testing, and FRTB.
  • Knowledge of financial instruments, regulations, and market risk metrics, acquired through academic study or practical experience.
  • Strong understanding of Regulatory and Compliance environment.
  • Risk, Valuations, and/or reporting systems knowledge is an asset.
  • Proficient with Microsoft applications.
  • Programming skillsets such as VBA, Python, SQL can be beneficial in developing, modifying, and improving risk management infrastructure.
