Heavy Equipment Technician Job Description

Brandt is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team in Cambridge Construction & Forestry location.

This role involves the repair and maintenance of construction and forestry-based equipment and attachments in a shop environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate the working condition of heavy duty equipment, diagnose issues, and perform repairs and maintenance.
  • Use secondary materials and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Operate related instruments, hand and power tools, secondary equipment, and computer systems.
  • Accurately document work orders, including machine information, actions taken, and time spent.
  • Continuously assess service task hazards and ensure work is performed safely and to accepted standards.
  • Use computer applications and information systems to document maintenance, inspection, and diagnosis.
  • Locate parts using catalogues and order from parts personnel.
  • Road test equipment and check attachment operation as required.
Requirements:
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Proven computer and technical aptitude for diagnostics and calibration work.
  • Demonstrated diagnostic skills to understand mechanical and technical equipment repair needs.
  • Excellent time-management skills to perform effectively under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, with an appreciation for customer needs.
  • Able to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • A commitment to high-quality customer service with a strong people orientation.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
