Paediatric Scoliosis Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Nurse Specialist to join our Paediatric Orthopaedic Team at The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will work closely with our consultant leads to provide specialist care to children with scoliosis.
Key Responsibilities- Act as lead contact for families and patients
- Lead on Nurse Led Clinics for new and review patients
- Lead on Paediatric spinal pre-assessment including organising appropriate diagnostic tests and scans
- Preoperative preparation of patients requiring spinal including coordinating MDT meetings with children and families
- Collect outcome data collection and registry for paediatric patients within the service
- Liaison for young people for transition, working closely with colleagues in adult orthopaedics
- Provide specialist clinical advice to ward nursing staff and junior medical staff
- Deliver training to new starters on the Paediatric Orthopaedic ward, staff induction programs and Orthopaedic study days
The ideal candidate will have:
- Registered nurse (appropriate to branch)
- Current NMC registration
- Degree / Masters level study, or equivalent specialist study / experience
- Extensive post registration experience, some of which will be at a senior level within the required specialist area of practice
- Good IT skills
- Audit / research experience
- Evidence of on-going continuous professional development
- Evidence of good communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective report writing skills
- Ability to work independently and across disciplines as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Effective organisation and time management skills
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant NHS policy or project specific policy context
- Has understanding / experience of adult / child safeguarding
