About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Geriatric Recreation Specialist to join our team at Fraser Health.

About the Position

  • As a Geriatric Recreation Specialist, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating individual and group therapeutic recreation treatment interventions and programming based on the social, physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs of residents.
  • You will work closely with the Recreation Coordinator to plan, promote, organize, implement, and evaluate a wide range of recreation and social programs designed to meet the needs of residents.
  • Your role will involve conducting comprehensive therapeutic recreation assessments for new residents and reassessing appropriate programs as needed.
  • You will also be responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and documenting resident participation and progress, and monitoring intervention with observations, reporting, and interpretation.

About You

  • To be successful in this role, you will have a Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Therapy and three years of recent experience in Geriatrics.
  • You must be eligible for membership with the B.C. Therapeutic Recreation Association (BCTRA) and hold current certificates in First Aid and CPR Level C, as well as FoodSafe Level 1.
  • You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be physically fit to perform the role.
  • You will also have the ability to prioritize workload, plan programs, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is $63,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience.
