Therapeutic Foster Care Program

Wood's Homes is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Therapeutic Foster Care Specialist to join our team in Calgary. As a Home Fire Keeper, you will provide in-home care to young people who have experienced disconnection from their community and culture.

Program Overview

Our Therapeutic Foster Care Program addresses the need for a culturally informed therapeutic model that prioritizes the lived experiences of Indigenous children. The program is built on the foundation of cultural knowledge and family-based care.

Role Summary

The Home Fire Keeper will tend to the emotional, spiritual, physical, and cognitive development of the child by helping to find positive reconnection. You will work collaboratively with a team of youth specialists, cultural leads, and a clinician to provide comprehensive support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide in-home care to young people who have experienced trauma and disconnection from their community and culture.
  • Support the emotional, spiritual, physical, and cognitive development of the child.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Participate in extensive training and professional development opportunities.
  • Work in a culturally informed and trauma-informed care environment.
Requirements
  • Previous experience caring for youth and managing challenging behaviors.
  • Availability to work in your home.
  • Participation in extensive training prior to client intakes.
Compensation

Foster Caregivers will receive tax-free daily compensation starting at $0.00/child. Participation in training will be compensated, and compensatory increases based on years of service.
