Program Overview

Wood's Homes is a leading mental health organization dedicated to providing high-quality, culturally informed therapeutic services to children, youth, and families. Our Therapeutic Foster Care Program is designed to address the unique needs of Indigenous children and youth, prioritizing their cultural knowledge and experiences.

Role Summary

The Home Fire Keeper will provide in-home care to young people who have experienced disconnection from their community and culture. This role requires a highly skilled and compassionate caregiver who can tend to the emotional, spiritual, physical, and cognitive development of the child, helping them find positive reconnection.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide in-home care to young people, prioritizing their cultural knowledge and experiences.
  • Develop and implement culturally informed therapeutic plans to support the child's emotional, spiritual, physical, and cognitive development.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including youth specialists, cultural leads, and clinicians, to ensure comprehensive support for the child.
  • Participate in extensive training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in trauma-informed care, positive parenting, and quality caregiving.
  • Engage in regular communication with the treatment team to ensure the child's needs are met and progress is monitored.
Requirements
  • Previous experience caring for youth and managing challenging behaviors.
  • Availability to work in the home environment.
  • Ability to participate in extensive training prior to client intakes.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Tax-free daily compensation starting at $[insert amount]/child.
  • Participation in training will be compensated.
  • Compensatory increases based on years of service.
