About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant, Co-op to join our team at Baker Tilly KDN LLP. As a key member of our accounting team, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of assignments and projects, including audit duties, financial statement preparation, and financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform audit duties at a junior level, including examining and analyzing financial records and documents.
  • Plan, set-up and administer accounting systems and prepare financial information.
  • Examine accounting records and prepare financial statements and reports.
  • Develop and maintain cost savings, reporting and internal control procedures.
  • Examine financial accounts and records and prepare income tax returns from accounting records.
  • Analyze financial statements and reports and provide financial, business and tax advice.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned by partner or senior staff.
  • Actively pursue self-development opportunities in line with the competency model and needs of the firm.
  • Build and nurture strong working relationships with staff, partners and clients.
  • Actively contribute to a positive team environment and support new initiatives.

Requirements

  • Has or is working on a business or accounting degree, such as BBA, BCOMM, CA, CGA, or CMA designation.
  • Entry-level technical knowledge and skills.
  • Knowledge of Caseware/Caseview and TaxPrep would be an asset.
  • Interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Team player with a positive can-do approach.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Creative problem-solving ability.
  • Seeks and researches solutions or answers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in delivery of quality client service.
  • A general knowledge of the firm's products and services.
  • A general understanding of industry and market trends, including opportunities, global and local business initiatives and stakeholder/competitor interests.
