The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Executive Director to lead the Skills and Learning Branch. This is a key leadership role that requires a strong understanding of labour market development and a proven track record of delivering complex programs and services.
Key Responsibilities- Strategic Leadership: Provide executive-level leadership to a 175-person team, developing and implementing the Skills and Learning strategic framework, and establishing key labour market priorities.
- Equitable Labour Market Development: Ensure equitable strategies are in place to develop a labour market that is representative of all Nova Scotians, promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Skills and Employment Initiatives: Strengthen skills and employment initiatives through efficient integration across all program delivery areas, delivering comprehensive and strategic advice to senior levels of government.
- Labour Market Agreements: Negotiate federal/provincial labour market agreements for significant funding in provincial programs and services.
- Human and Financial Resource Management: Manage human and financial resources effectively, contributing to achieving departmental priorities through business planning and other corporate goals.
- Leadership Experience: Experience leading and developing complex and diverse teams, with a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in senior leadership roles.
- Equity and Inclusion: A commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, with a strong understanding of the importance of promoting diversity and inclusion in the labour market.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills and the ability to manage challenges, with experience working with federal and/or provincial government partners.
- Public Communication: Experience in public communication, with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders and the public.
While not required, bilingualism (French/English) is an asset, and community/volunteer activities with a leadership role are also beneficial.
