Job Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, the Psychologist I works collaboratively with the COAST Kids Outreach program to provide outreach support and stabilization services to neurodiverse children and their families after discharge from inpatient mental health. The program operates within a multidisciplinary team framework, utilizing trauma-informed, developmental, and patient-centered care models. The Psychologist I conducts formal assessments (psychoeducational, developmental, and/or psychological) and guides and supervises unregulated team members, such as psychosocial rehabilitation assistants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide a range of standard-level psychology services to patients and their families within established standards, directives, and policies.
  • Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals in planning and implementing services that align with best practices and ethical and professional standards.
  • Provide input to the interprofessional team related to psychological factors, barriers, and dynamics that influence client treatment planning, participation, outcomes, and team functioning.
  • Consult and collaborate with teams and community services.
  • Supervise psychometrists, provisional psychologists, and/or masters-level psychology students.
  • Contribute to program, policy, and/or procedure development and participate in formal research initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from an accredited university program.
  • Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
  • At least two years of previous experience as a psychologist in mental health, including neurodiverse children (Autism, Intellectual disability, FASD, ADHD, etc.).
  • At least two years' experience with formal assessment (psychoeducational, developmental, and/or psychological) including neurodiverse children.
  • Brain Story and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of child development, assessment, and treatment, family therapy, group therapy, and case management in mental health care of youth.
  • Knowledge of family-based interventions and strategies in treating children with mental health challenges.
  • Experience providing mental health services independently in the context of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Previous experience supervising and providing direction to students and/or unregulated multidisciplinary team members.
