Communicable Disease Control Program Coordinator

Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public health nursing, with a focus on communicable disease control. This position will require the individual to coordinate and maintain the Communicable Disease Program for Population & Public Health Services within Fraser Health, including identifying problem areas and follow-up of communicable disease concerns and issues. The successful candidate will also be responsible for providing consultation and guidance to staff and others on clinical issues and approaches, as well as participating in coordinating response activities on major and complex disease outbreaks.
Qualifications
Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) is required. Additionally, the candidate must have three years recent related public health nursing clinical experience in the designated clinical area, including a working knowledge of local and provincial Communicable Disease Regulations and relevant policies, procedures, and protocols. Alternatively, the candidate may have a combination of two years experience as above and one year of nursing experience in a leadership role, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Skills and Abilities
The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in the application of word-processing software programs, including database management and presentation. They will also be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including the ability to make group presentations and to work within a team environment. Additionally, they will be able to teach and provide leadership to project teams and staff, as well as deal effectively with others. A working knowledge of research methodology and analysis is also necessary.
