Strategic Sourcing Manager

As a Senior Manager, Technology Sourcing, you will play a key role in developing and executing strategic sourcing initiatives to support Scotiabank's technology needs. This role requires a strong understanding of technology services and a proven track record of driving cost savings and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain relationships with IT leaders and stakeholders to understand technology requirements and develop strategic sourcing strategies.
- Collaborate with business unit and operations leaders to identify key business drivers and develop sourcing initiatives that align with Scotiabank's overall business strategy.
- Lead the development of high-quality and cost-effective supply relationships, with a focus on total cost of ownership (TCO) savings.
- Directly lead and implement best practices in sourcing initiatives, including contract and supplier negotiation, and supplier management.
- Manage categories within and across Scotiabank's business segments, and serve as a key contributor to the development and evolution of the supplier management process.
- Track sourcing initiatives for multi-functional stakeholder teams, ensuring effective strategy development, market assessments, RFP processes, contract and supplier negotiation, and supplier management.
- Establish and develop on-going strategic relationships with key suppliers during major sourcing/project initiatives.
- Proactively work with business line VMOs and contract owners to understand business needs, business strategy, and pipeline of contract renewals to build an overall supplier contract strategy.
- Lead Top-to-Top Supplier Meetings for enterprise suppliers.
- Act as the issues/incident escalation point for the supplier that may have an enterprise-wide impact or not resolved at the business level.
- Contribute to a disciplined effort to influence spend and drive cost savings across all business segments.
- Support consistent application of procurement processes across constituent groups.
- Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Understand how Scotiabank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk.
- Champion a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates team members by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vision/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.
- Bachelor's degree in management, business, or related field; master (MA or MSc) in business or engineering, CIS, science, or finance an asset.
- Minimum of 5-10 years progressive sourcing experience.
- CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) preferred.
- Global sourcing experience including technology services-related expertise.
- Ability to bridge communications between Sourcing, IT, business, and legal stakeholders/partners with a focus on developing an understanding of how to structure contracts to deliver against Scotiabank's needs.
- Excellent change-leadership and conflict resolution management as well as advanced problem-solving skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and comfort in speaking with senior leaders at Scotiabank.
- Knowledgeable in financial services and regulations (e.g., OSFI, OCC, CFPB, UDAAP) and how they are applied to Third Party relationships is preferred.
- Ability to comprehend complex technical and financial issues and use them to inform the creation of effective action plans and supplier strategies.
- Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills.
- Ability to develop collaborative working relationships with global stakeholder groups. Superior interpersonal and communication skills, exhibits a high level of professionalism.
- Knowledge and experience with state-of-the-art procurement and analysis technologies.
- Knowledge and understanding of emerging IT and related architecture.
