The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Director of Urban Planning to lead our planning and development team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in planning and policy development, with experience working with developers and understanding provincial and federal regulations. They will be responsible for developing strategies around urban planning principles that are sustainable, environmentally supportive, and focused on placemaking and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Urban Planning department and develop strategies for sustainable and innovative planning practices
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to drive business growth and development
  • Develop and implement policies and planning practices that align with the company's vision and goals
  • Manage and lead a team of urban planners and designers
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Urban Geography, Urban Planning, Architecture, or Landscape Architecture
  • Master's degree in Urban Planning
  • 10+ years of experience in urban planning, with experience in private and public sectors
  • 5+ years of experience leading teams in urban planning and design
  • Excellent technical knowledge and design experience in the industry
  • Portfolio of projects based in Ontario that demonstrate expertise in urban planning and planning development
  • Experience developing policies, planning practices, and understanding development and permit processes
  • Detailed approach to project management with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • High energy, innovative thinking, and a dynamic approach to design and planning
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
