About the Position:
This is a temporary, full-time position supporting research initiatives and opportunities at Lambton College. The successful candidate will work closely with the Research and Innovation Operations Manager to lead the instrumentation and control team and carry out various research projects focused on instrumentation and control.
Key Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for:
Technical Duties:
• Design, installation, implementation, commissioning, maintenance, calibration, operation, networking, analysis, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and electrical processes, measurement devices, and distributed control systems/PLCs.
Administration Duties:
• Leading research projects, developing purchasing documents, and collaborating with research partners and Applied Research and Innovation Office staff.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess a minimum of a 3-year post-secondary degree or diploma in Instrumentation & Control Engineering Technology and have a minimum of 2 years of experience with Visual Basic interface programming, software applications programming, and troubleshooting, as well as computer network and troubleshooting for isolated systems.
Working Knowledge:
The incumbent will have working knowledge of a selection of the following systems: Allen Bradley PLC, Triconex PLC, Honeywell Experion, SMAR Fieldbus, and Emerson Delta V system.
Skills and Abilities:
The successful candidate will have well-developed analytical, problem-solving, and evaluation skills to troubleshoot, problem-solve, and provide analytical solutions to a wide variety of situations.
