Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Service Director to join our team at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA). As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for leading the daily clinical service delivery and environmental/operational issues in the designated service area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Supervision: Supervise the daily clinical service delivery and environmental/operational issues in the designated service area, exercising high-level decision-making, problem-solving, and judgment.
  • Clinical Leadership: Provide guidance to respiratory therapists and support staff within the designated service area through clinical leadership, mentoring, supervision, education, evaluation, and research.
  • Quality Service Delivery: Contribute to the delivery of quality respiratory therapy services by examining, developing, refining, and evaluating the body of knowledge and clinical practices.
  • Performance Management: Assist with performance appraisals and recruitment, as well as coordinating clinical work schedules, caseloads, and service rotations.
  • Clinical Caseload: Maintain a partial clinical caseload, including Respiratory Therapy assessment, interventions, and follow-up within established standards of care.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of five years recent, relevant Respiratory Therapy experience in a large complex environment required.
  • Supervisory Experience: Previous supervisory experience required.
Education and Training
  • Academic Credential: Entry-to-practice academic credential in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited Canadian program or a MARRT-approved equivalent, if internationally educated, is required.
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or another field of study with a relevant major is preferred.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Leadership and Communication: Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and mentoring abilities, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: Ability to critically evaluate and apply relevant knowledge to practice, with good organizational, problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Technical Skills: Working knowledge of computers, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and ability to function within a computerized environment.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods, with manual dexterity and visual acuity required.
Working Conditions
  • Work Environment: May be required to work a variety of shifts, including weekends, and may be exposed to infectious diseases, blood, and body fluids, radiation, toxic materials, noise, allergens, physical, and emotional stress.
