Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Plastics Machine Operator to join our team at ePac Flexible Packaging Toronto ULC. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining various plastics processing machines, ensuring high-quality products and efficient production processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and perform minor adjustments to equipment to optimize production efficiency
  • Weigh and mix resins, colorants, and chemicals according to precise formulae to achieve desired product consistency
  • Monitor and inspect the quality of materials produced, identifying and addressing any defects or issues
  • Operate mixing machines to blend plastic and chemicals to specific consistency and viscosity
  • Unload and pack items for shipping and distribution, ensuring accurate and timely completion of tasks
  • Set up and operate calender machines to transform plastic bales or slabs into continuous sheets or films of specified thickness
  • Adjust calender rollers for production line changes and optimize machine performance
  • Set up and operate extruding machines to extrude plastic compound through a nozzle or die, changing dies as needed for production line changes
  • Prepare and change moulds and adjust equipment for production line changes, ensuring seamless transitions
  • Follow formulation cards to mix resin batches for injection moulding processes, maintaining accurate records and documentation
  • Organize and maintain inventory, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of materials and supplies
  • Perform trimming and sanding of plastic or fiberglass parts, adhering to quality standards and production schedules
  • Operate computer numerical control (CNC) machines, utilizing precision and accuracy to achieve high-quality results
Requirements
  • Ability to distinguish between colors and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
  • Manual dexterity and ability to handle heavy loads, with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the workday
  • Excellent oral communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Dependability, reliability, and a strong work ethic, with a commitment to accuracy and quality
