Position Overview

The role of a Plastics Machine Operator involves overseeing the operation of machinery used in the production of plastic products. This position is essential in ensuring the efficiency and quality of the manufacturing process.

Educational Requirements
  • Completion of secondary (high) school graduation certificate is required.
Work Environment

Key Responsibilities

As a Plastics Machine Operator, your duties will include:

  • Troubleshooting and making minor adjustments to machinery
  • Weighing resins, colorants, and other chemicals as per specified formulas
  • Monitoring and inspecting the quality of produced materials
  • Loading weighed materials into mixing machines
  • Operating mixing machines to achieve desired consistency and viscosity of plastics
  • Supervising junior staff as required
  • Transferring mixtures into containers or conveyors for subsequent processing
  • Packaging items for distribution
  • Setting up and operating calender machines to convert plastic bales into sheets or films
  • Adjusting calender rollers for production line modifications
  • Setting up and operating extruding machines for plastic compound extrusion
  • Changing dies on extruding machines based on production needs
  • Setting up and operating moulding machines for plastic product creation
  • Preparing and adjusting moulds for production line changes
  • Following formulation cards for resin batch mixing in injection moulding
  • Organizing and maintaining inventory
  • Trimming and sanding plastic or fiberglass components
  • Utilizing computer numerical control (CNC) machines
