Geotechnical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join our team at Burgundy Diamond Mines. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient extraction of diamonds from our open pit mines.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement geotechnical designs and operational instructions to support open pit mining operations
- Conduct slope monitoring systems and geotechnical data collection management to ensure safe operations
- Assess geotechnical stability of open pit slopes and wedges, and recommend appropriate ground support
- Review and update Ground Control Standards and Ground Control Management Plan to ensure compliance with industry best practices
- Provide geotechnical data to mine engineers to support optimal mine planning
- Complete mine inspections, internal reporting, and issue technical reports as needed
- Develop Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Work Instructions (WI) for geotechnical tasks
- Conduct hydrology and hydrogeology studies to manage water ingress and inrush risk
- Degree in geotechnical engineering or a relevant discipline
- Minimum 3-4 years of experience in geotechnical engineering
- Designation as a Professional Engineer in the Northwest Territories or working toward the ability to obtain this designation
- NWT WCB Supervisor Level One or Level Two certification or the ability to obtain this
- Advanced experience with industry software such as RocScience suite, GeoStudio, and Maptek suite
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently or in a team setting
