Role Overview

The Director, Strategy will play a critical role in identifying, leading, and developing our company-wide strategic planning and business processes. This includes long-term planning, strategic initiatives, and ongoing reporting via OGSM balance scorecard.

As a key member of the executive management team, the Director, Strategy will collaborate closely with the CFO, CEO, and senior functional leaders to develop and refine:

  • Enterprise-level strategy, including mission, vision, where to play, how to win, and M&A
  • Enterprise-level insights to support strategy development and ongoing refinement, including market insights and competitive intelligence
  • Ensuring organizational alignment, with executional plans developed as a cascade from core strategic annual and long-term planning processes
  • Company-wide business processes, including ongoing governance, balance scorecard (OGSM), and key strategic initiatives

The strategy team sits at the nexus of the company, working closely with Product, Operations, External Partnerships, Post-merger Integration, and Finance teams to identify the largest opportunities for our business and develop plans against them.

Key Responsibilities

The Director, Strategy will be responsible for:

  • Strategic Planning: Lead, coordinate, and set the agenda for strategic planning and long-term planning at Flipp, including annual 3-YR and 10-YR organizational planning and quarterly strategic deep-dive reviews
  • Strategy Execution & Monitoring: Lead, coordinate, and deliver the annual OGSM planning process (Q4 - Q1), ensuring the OGSM framework is laddered and cascaded across the full organization
  • Strategic Initiatives: Develop and evaluate business cases for strategic initiatives, features, products, and sales-based approaches through opportunity prioritization from a customer, financial, operational, product, and partnership lens
  • Corporate Development: Develop, update, and organize the articulation of Flipp's inorganic M&A strategy in partnership with the CEO, CFO, and executive team
  • Team Leadership and Coaching: Provide leadership coaching and mentoring to the team, make strategic changes to enhance bench strength, and foster a shared culture of high performance, engagement, knowledge sharing, and collaboration
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum 8-10 years of related experience driving strategy initiatives
  • Global strategy experience or experience with strategy consulting preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and motivate individuals across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to communicate and articulate complex ideas and present them to the executive team
  • Proven track record of success in shaping and influencing an organization's strategic agenda and priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to be successful in a fast-paced and rapidly changing work environment
  • Experience working with and aligning a broad range of stakeholders on a strategic goal
  • A high degree of initiative, a sense of urgency, and someone who is not afraid to challenge the status quo
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint (and/or their Google Workspace equivalents)
