Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Team Leader to join our team in Kitchener, Ontario. As a Quality Assurance Team Leader, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of our products, managing product specifications, and supporting food safety and quality training for all employees.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as back-up for BQM on an as-needed basis
  • Perform shelf life evaluations on products per established procedures
  • Conduct daily GMP walkthroughs and report any findings
  • Investigate RCA and implement CAPA after reviewing with the BQM
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Support the development of food safety and quality training programs
  • Manage product specification verification and documentation
  • Examine incoming raw materials, processes, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality and food safety standards
  • Verify packaging operations to ensure correct packaging, labeling, production codes, and best-before marking and carton labeling
  • Conduct sampling of the plant environment and equipment, water, raw materials, and finished products for microbiological and/or analytical testing/sensory evaluation
  • Support trials/first production approval runs in compliance with Stage Gate protocols
  • Hold product or ingredient control and dispositions
  • Assist with the maintenance of all HACCP programs
  • Participate in and support internal/third-party/CFIA/FDA audits
  • Identify and report non-conformances for any out-of-compliance situations or food safety incidents
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a quality control food manufacturing setting
  • Post-secondary education in a food safety/quality-related program
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to partner with all levels of production from operators to supervisors
  • Flexibility and willingness to work overtime where required (in busy season)
Estimated Salary Range:

$65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience
