About the Role

Ciena Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Data Science and Analytics Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a pivotal role in helping us transition from descriptive and diagnostic analytics to predictive and prescriptive analytics using data science, AI, and ML.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with business teams to understand their challenges, identify opportunities for data-driven solutions, and translate business requirements into analytical problems.
  • Source, collect, and cleanse data from various internal and external sources, transforming it into usable formats for analysis.
  • Develop and implement statistical and machine learning models to analyze large and complex datasets, uncovering patterns, trends, and insights.
  • Create compelling stories to communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Deploy data models into production environments to enable real-time decision-making and automation.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and security by adhering to AI governance standards and best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest data science trends, technologies, and methodologies.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Data Scientist, with a demonstrated track record of successfully collaborating with business teams to drive data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages (Python, R, or similar), statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and data visualization tools.
  • Ability to understand business challenges, translate them into data-driven questions, and communicate findings in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
  • Advanced degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
