We are seeking a highly skilled Data Analytics Specialist to join our multidisciplinary research team at the University of Ottawa. As a key member, you will play a pivotal role in advancing scientific knowledge and improving population health outcomes through cutting-edge research.

About the Role

This is a full-time 1-year contract, with possibility of renewal pending performance. You will be responsible for leading data-driven research projects, supervising students, preparing grant applications, and managing research budgets.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Data Analysis and Interpretation: Conduct sophisticated and/or advanced data analyses using specialized expertise and experience in biostatistics and machine learning on large health datasets.
  2. Project Preparation: Write, edit, and submit protocols and other required research documentation for research ethics and regulatory matters.
  3. Project Management: Supervise undergraduates and graduate students, ensure eligibility of project expenditures, track and monitor financial aspects, and provide justification for accurate and timely reporting.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should possess a minimum of an undergraduate degree in a related discipline (biostatistics, epidemiology, health data science, or a related field), with a graduate degree preferred. Additionally, you should have two to five years of experience in research positions or one to two years of research experience with a graduate degree in a relevant discipline.

  • Strong proficiency in advanced statistical analyses and machine learning methods using software such as R, Python, STATA, or SAS.
  • Experience working with large health datasets, including survey and administrative data.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in budgeting and resource management for research projects is highly desirable.
