About the Role

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Part-time Mental Health Specialist to join our team in Vancouver Acute Home-Based Treatment (AHBT) program. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with psychiatrists, nurses, care coordinators, and a family physician or nurse practitioner to provide comprehensive care to clients with acute mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with community health and acute hospital services to address ongoing client needs and ensure a smooth transition from acute care to community health services.
  • Engage with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve excellence in client-centered care, including psychiatric assessment, minor medical assessment, medication management, and behavioral management.
  • Work as a member of an inter-professional healthcare team to provide high-quality care to clients and their families.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and education programs to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) membership is mandatory.
  • Applicants must be appointed as medical staff of Vancouver Coastal Health.
  • A clinical faculty appointment with the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine is highly encouraged.
  • Experience in a community mental health setting, preferably working with marginalized populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of an inter-professional healthcare team.
