Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Overnight Youth Care Worker to join our team at WJS Canada. As a key member of our residential care team, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and supportive environment for children and youth in our care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children and youth in our care, including regular bed checks and night-time support as required.
  • Provide wake-up calls and assist with morning routines, including preparing and serving breakfast, and assisting with personal care tasks.
  • Drive school-aged children to school on school days, and assist with other daily tasks as needed.
  • Be a positive role model and provide guidance and support to children and youth in our care.
  • Assist with the operation and maintenance of our residence and program facility, including cleaning, laundry, and other tasks as needed.
  • Cooperate with other team members to plan and deliver culturally appropriate programs and services.
  • Complete paperwork and documentation as required, including log books, contact notes, and critical incident reports.
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in Child and Youth Work, preferably in a group home or community setting.
  • Experience working with Indigenous children and youth is an asset.
  • Certificate, diploma, or degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Work, or a related field.
  • First Aid/CPR certification and training in crisis intervention, suicide intervention, and medication administration.
  • Indigenous Awareness and cultural diversity training.
  • Able to work and follow WJS Canada policies and procedures, and adhere to the Alberta Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs and have a valid driver's license for at least 3 years.
