About the Role:
This is a regular part-time support staff position reporting to the Manager, Centre of Access Programs, working 24 hours per week at an hourly rate of $26.46. The position is permanent, working 8 months of the year, typically from the last week of August to the last week of April. The ideal candidate will be available for a flexible schedule as class times vary and change from term to term based on student needs.
Key Responsibilities:
•Collaborate with faculty to modify course materials, tests, and assignments to support students with diverse learning needs
•Develop and recommend policies and procedures for the administration of the work unit, ensuring alignment with College-wide initiatives
•Provide data-driven insights to inform decision-making, enabling the College to optimize student support services
•Coordinate learning initiatives, responding to the needs of students and faculty, and ensuring seamless delivery of support services
•Other responsibilities as required
Requirements:
•A diploma in Educational Assistant, Developmental Service Worker, Child and Youth Worker, or Social Service Worker, or equivalent experience in carpentry or welding
•1-3 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, significant learning challenges, and in teaching/tutoring environments
•Mental health training is an asset
•Knowledge and experience in utilizing educational/learning strategies, Microsoft Teams, and D2L are required
•Possess advocacy skills and a willingness to participate in marketing events to promote student success
•Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with a high degree of professionalism, diplomacy, and patience
•Computer fluency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
•Ability to work independently, make decisions, and demonstrate a high level of initiative
•Excellent organizational and creative problem-solving skills
•An effective team player
