The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior - Intermediate Engineering Designer/Engineer-In-Training to join our Public Sector group in Vancouver.

This role involves preparing construction drawings/documents, coordinating design and specifications within a multidisciplinary design team.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed design drawings using Civil 3D and related applications for land development and municipal engineering projects.
  • Develop road designs and final grading plans for urban residential development projects.
  • Create engineering drawings and designs for land development and water resources projects.
  • Participate in full-service design of civil/municipal engineering projects.
  • Conduct stormwater management, site grading, sanitary sewer, and water distribution system design for subdivision and land development engineering projects.
  • Interpret topographic information required for design.
  • Perform site and lot grading.
  • Analyze municipal infrastructure components.
  • Compile as-built records for design and record drawings.
  • Prepare contract documents for project tendering and execute project design drawings.
  • Develop Site Grading, Servicing, Erosion/Sediment Control Plans, Details, and Notes in AutoCAD for Site Plan Application.
  • Prepare Functional Servicing and Stormwater Management Reports in support of Zoning By-law Amendment and Site Plan Application.
  • Calculate water/wastewater servicing requirements for proposed land development projects.
  • Calculate stormwater management quantity and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate design with consultant teams, including architects, landscape architects, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, traffic consultants, hydrogeologists, and geotechnical engineers.
  • Prepare formal responses to approving agencies addressing development engineering comments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • At least 3 years of experience in land development and/or municipal design.
  • Prior internships relevant to the position.
  • Experience in commercial, subdivisions, and site plan design.
  • Excellent organizational skills to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing work assignments.
