Logistics Specialist

**THE OPPORTUNITY**
Western Forest Products is hiring for a **Logistics Specialist** to join our Supply Control and Logistics team based out of our head office in **Vancouver, BC**.**
**What You’ll Do**: With the overarching objective of Defining a Higher Standard, the Logistics Specialist ensures the timely and efficient delivery of products to market, working with the Sawmills and Sales & Marketing Department team.
**What We Offer**:
- Salary range of **$55,000 - $66,000** based on skill level, qualifications, and experience
- Annual incentive plan

**Work Environment**:This role is to be performed in person at our head office in Vancouver, BC.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Work closely with transportation service providers, across multiple modes, to ensure delivery commitments are met to internal and external customers;
- Coordinate transportation activities via truck, rail and export containers, including carrier selection;
- Negotiate rates with logistics providers;
- Evaluate and make best decisions to meet timelines and realize best transportation rates;
- Work with 3rd party reloads to ensure shipments occur in a timely manner;
- Troubleshoot and resolve logístical issues, such as delays, damage, and discrepancies;
- Implement and enforce logistics policies, procedures and best practices;
- Assist with border papers, delivery slips, transfers, receiving paperwork;
- Assist with inventory management and control - monitoring aged inventory;
- Assist with export documentation;
- Accounts Payable approval processing;
- Perform other duties, projects, and assignments as needed;
- Travel as required.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education and Experience**
- Some post-secondary accreditation preferred;
- Post-Secondary degree in Logistics or related field considered an asset.
**Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies**
- Excellent internal and external relationship building skills;
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and react to changing conditions;
- Ability to work independently as a self-starter and under supervision;
- Ability to communicate effectively and work to timelines;
- Strong organizational skills and detail oriented;
- High level of integrity and accountability;
- Ability to think critically;
- Strong Microsoft Office skills;
- Transportation/Logistics experience; Truck, Rail and/or Marine;
- LumberTrack knowledge is an asset;
- Lumber shipping experience is an asset.
