Job Summary

The City of Burnaby is seeking a highly skilled Engineering Project Specialist to join our Transportation Division in the Engineering Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for facilitating the design and advancement of municipal projects from a citywide, community, and corridor level.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the design and advancement of municipal projects from a citywide, community, and corridor level.
  • Review design layouts and drawings for technical accuracy and conformance with municipal standards and related specifications.
  • Prepare engineering designs and related cost estimates.
  • Liaise with external agencies, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Conduct field inspections of work sites.
  • Assist in the preparation of Council reports and other required technical presentations.
  • Support project coordination efforts within the Transportation Division and with other City departments.
Requirements
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering, supplemented by courses in project management.
  • Considerable related experience preferably within the municipal sector, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Considerable knowledge of applicable municipal engineering design principles, standards, and methods.
  • Ability to prepare designs for transportation infrastructure and to review drawings for technical accuracy and conformance with municipal standards and related specifications.
  • Certification as an Applied Science Technologist within the Province of British Columbia is an asset.
  • A valid Driver's Licence for the Province of British Columbia is required.
