Compensation: $25/hr - $32/hr

Forsite Consultants Ltd. is a leading provider of integrated forest land development and management services. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Development Technologist to join our team in Salmon Arm, BC.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for forest development activities, including the implementation of forestry plans, road/cutblock engineering, ecological assessments, and completing associated plans and reports. They will also interact with foresters, technicians, and other professionals at Forsite.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute expertise within our project teams, spanning small cutting permit-based projects to large integrated multi-phase development or woodlands management programs.
  • Support the completion of cruise compilations and interior timber appraisals.
  • Manage and ensure compliance and consistency with stewardship requirements for forest development in B.C. as driven by FRPA and relevant Forest Stewardship plans.
  • Provide expertise and support for forest development planning and operations.
  • Operation of off-road vehicles, including 4x4 trucks, ATVs, and snowmobiles.

Requirements:

  • Broad understanding of, and experience in, general forestry practices and operational forest planning.
  • A safety-conscious attitude and approach to daily work habits.
  • Post-secondary education with a degree or diploma in forestry or a related field.
  • 2 or more years of experience in developing and applying forest harvesting and development practices, standards, ground rules, or guidelines.
  • Registration with the FPBC (or eligible for registration) as a professional forester (RPF) and/or forest technologist (RFT) will be considered as an asset.
