Job Title: Software Engineering Manager

Macdonald, Dettwiler And Associates Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineering Manager to join our team. As a key member of our engineering leadership team, you will be responsible for guiding a high-performing team of software engineers in the design, development, and delivery of complex software systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Software Engineering Strategy: Collaborate with the Director of Engineering to develop and implement software engineering strategies that align with the company's business objectives.
  • Innovation Leadership: Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the software engineering team, driving the adoption of new technologies and methodologies to stay ahead of the curve.
  • Team Management: Lead and manage a team of software engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and coaching to ensure the team's success.
  • Process Governance: Establish and maintain software engineering processes and tools, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Budget Management: Manage departmental budgets, ensuring effective resource allocation and optimization.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the software engineering team, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong background in leadership and management.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex software systems on time and within budget.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong technical skills, with expertise in software development methodologies, agile development, and DevOps.
