About the Role
At BGIS, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Cleaner (Bilingual Asset - EN/FR) to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of our facilities, providing exceptional customer service, and working collaboratively with our team to achieve our goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of specialized cleaning and building maintenance tasks, including dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and cleaning ceiling vents, restrooms, and floors.
- Transport garbage from drop points to garbage bins or compactors, and clean stairwells and elevator cabs as needed.
- Operate cleaning equipment, such as handheld or walk-behind buffing machines, and use power equipment to perform tasks such as window cleaning and floor stripping.
- Stock and maintain supplies, load and unload supplies, and replenish cleaning solutions as needed.
- Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
- Make adjustments and minor repairs, and notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
- Remove snow and debris from sidewalks, driveways, or parking areas, using snowplows, snow blowers, or snow shovels, or spread snow melting chemicals.
- Ensure compliance with corporate and legislated policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines related to environmental, health, and safety, and fire protection.
- Represent BGIS SCS in enhancing tenant and customer satisfaction and maintain positive relations.
- Perform and document routine inspection and maintenance activities.
- May be required to work shifts, work on-call/standby, and emergency call-out as required.
Requirements
- 2 years + experience preferred, however willing to train a suitable candidate.
- Excellent time management skills/must adhere to tight deadlines/respond quickly to situations.
- Self-starter, willing to learn, able to work independently.
- Team player.
- Good verbal communication and writing skills.
- Bilingual (EN/FR) is an Asset.
- Excellent interpersonal relationship skills.
- Positive attitude toward all aspects of Environment, Health and Safety.
- Familiarity with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) preferred.
- Knowledge of national and industry codes and standards such as WHMIS.
Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation
- Must meet security clearance requirements, where applicable.
- Must have a valid Class G license.
