Critical Care Nursing Opportunities

As a critical care nurse in the Pulmonary Function Labs at Vancouver General Hospital, you will have the opportunity to work with a dedicated team of healthcare professionals who share your passion for delivering exceptional patient care.

About the Role:
As a critical care nurse, you will provide nursing care to critically ill patients with respiratory conditions, such as pneumonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). You will work closely with the interdisciplinary care team to develop and implement individualized care plans that prioritize patient safety and well-being.

Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care to critically ill patients with respiratory conditions
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and emotional needs
- Develop and implement individualized care plans that prioritize patient safety and well-being
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure seamless care transitions
- Educate patients and their families about disease management and self-care strategies
- Document patient care activities and outcomes in accordance with established policies and procedures

Requirements:
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
- Demonstrated ability in nursing practice related to designated client group - Respiratory Medicine and Thoracic Surgery
- Demonstrated knowledge of pathophysiology related to common diagnosis/surgeries and specific clinical situations related to area of practice (e.g. Thoracic surgery procedures; Pulmonary Resections (wedge, segmental, lobectomy); Lung Transplantation; Respiratory illness/disease; Lung cancer; Cystic Fibrosis; Hypercapnic / hypoxemic respiratory failure)
- Demonstrated ability to perform focused secondary assessments and integrate information from a variety of sources including diagnostics and develop plan of care relevant to the designated patient/client group
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate and respond to potential complications and care issues relevant to the designated patient/client group

Compensation and Benefits:
- Competitive salary range: $105,000 - $140,000 per annum
